 Waynesville, North Carolina with its art, shopping, museums and fine dining is a true mountain gem. At the turn of the century, Waynesville became know as the gateway to the smokies. Tourists came in droves to escape the heat and to explore the newly formed Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
